If you are facing a drug charge you need to hire a drug attorney to represent you. Being arrested and charged with a crime is not something to take lightly or think you can handle on your own. However, when it comes to choosing an attorney to represent you, what are the things you need to know? There are a few factors to keep in mind when choosing an attorney. They are:

  • Lawyers should never promise their clients a specific outcome. Lawyers are not in any type of position to guarantee results. If a lawyer promises you a specific result find someone else.
  • If the drug attorney you talk to tells you that they think they can get your case dismissed, find a new lawyer. A good lawyer will not talk about case dismissal in your initial consultation they may be telling you what you only want to hear. A good lawyer will give you the facts and tell it like it is. Dismissals are rare and any lawyer who promises you a quick one is not a lawyer you want representing you.
  • Any promises made from the attorney you are seeking representation from should be requested in writing. This is a quick way to disarm and weed out the good drug attorneys from the bad. A simple request from you that if you do retain their services you would like the claim they are making to be put in writing and that you want the fee agreement to reflect that. So if they are unable to achieve the promised result you will get all your money back. If the lawyer balks at this, seek new representation.

A drug charge is a serious offense. You want a skilled and experienced drug attorney who doesn’t make false promises to represent you. It is the best chance you have at a proper outcome.
